Everyone wants the Magic Pill… the one supplement that is finally going to make them lean and mean!! Guess what it doesn’t exist. If it did wouldn’t you think that everyone in the world would be taking it?? The truth is that most of these “Fad Diets” are the cause for everyone’s weight gain across the country. We need to realize What is making you FAT? I believe that if we start to understand What is making you Fat, instead of what can make us lose weight!!
Alright… there are so many “fad” diets to talk about I don’t even know where to start?? Let’s go with the latest one that everyone thinks they are on… KETO!! Ketosis is a state you can put your body in where basically you have trained your body to use fat as energy… hmmm?
So let’s think about that logically. I am going to make 70% of my caloric intake FATS? Yes of course they are good fats… but 70%… hmmm?
Let us take a quick look at the ever famous Bullet Proof Coffee!! Now I know a lot of people who take this on a daily basis. You may ask what exactly is Bullet Proof Coffee?
There are a few different ways to make Bullet Proof Coffee. Here is the most popular way to make it! Now this is packed with fats (yes, good fats) and usually hits over 400 calories… yikes!!! Kind of brings us back to What is making you Fat?
Now let us take a look at the nutritional value of Bullet Proof Coffee compared to Bacon & Eggs! You may be shocked at what you see!
Alright let’s take a quick look. Calories are pretty close, but look at the fats!! The coffee has 51 grams of fat and nothing else. The protein and carbs are non existent! Its basically like drinking a cup of hot fat in the morning! Just think of this logically. Drinking a cup of fat in the morning vs. eating a balance meal. Now let me make myself clear… Bacon and Eggs is definitely not on any type of diet program I would ever put anyone on!! But it is a typical breakfast in this country so that is why I picked it. I also makes me return to the question, What is making you FAT?
With this new “Fad” diet or “Keto” we have added so much fat to our diets all is see are people getting heavier! Now there are people who are getting shredded with Keto… but very few people are actually in Ketosis. Which should only be implemented for a couple months and then cycled off to give your body a break! Also another quick note for the people who remember this. Think back to the Atkins diets! Atkins was huge, everyone was cutting out all their carbs and losing a ton of weight!! Then a few years later all the side effects of an unbalanced diet started hitting everyone across the country. All of a sudden Atkins was an awful diet and talked down upon until it disappeared! Take a look at Atkins and take a look at Keto… do you see the similarities?
How to successfully lose weight.
I have been helping my clients lose weight and get in amazing shape for over 25 years now. I have learned so much about how people react to different diets it’s been great! The start of most of my clients dietary changes start the same way. One of the key elements is understanding your macros and how your body reacts to different amounts!

In conclusion to the question What is making you Fat? The general answer is too much of a particular macro!! If you eat too much of one macro… either Protein, Carbs or Fats you will gain weight!! And this is not good weight gain. If you want to lose fat and put on lean muscle, which is generally the goal. You need to balance out your macros to about 40/30/30.
